chilling - relaxing - vacationing. That is what I’ll be doing for the next few days… with very limited access to voicemail and email. Most calls and emails will be returned when I get back.
Lovin them! She was so fun to work with!! From sitting in front of a pile of logs to wading out into the middle of a creek (yes, I waded out there too - hoping like crazy I wouldnt slip and drop my camera!!). where ever we found a good spot - we shot! love it!

Is it possible to be in love with a couple who is so in love?? When we started this session it was pouring down rain. We waited, shot a bit in my studio - waiting - hoping it was going to quit so we could go outside. It was letting up a bit, so we grabbed an umbrella and off we went… so fun! Catching them kiss under the umbrella, hold hands when they thought I wasnt looking and sneaking under the overhangs… LOVE. and I loved every minute of it.
I remember as a kid spending a week or so with my aunts and uncles or cousins going to different places that I’ve never been. Or one year spending a few days with my grandparents down in Florida “alligator hunting” with my grandpap…. These kids were here visiting their grandparents. Grandpa had called me last year when he had some of the grandchildren and this year again. I think its a wonderful idea for him to have photo sessions of his grandchildren done when they visit… a great memory for him.. and for them….

I hear that sometimes during a session. Parents tend to think we aren’t getting a whole lot of good shots during a session. I quietly just say, I think we are doing ok - and give a little wink. I’m not one to over react too much (unless its reeeeally bad) and I cant say I’ve had too many of those!!) However I tend to like the shots where sometimes the kids are in the backgrounds, walking through the shots, heads maybe in the way - thats kind of how life is anyway isnt it?? You sit to read a book with one of your children and sure enough - the other needs something or plops down too…or, you are watching your favorite tv show, and you are constantly dodging your head around your childs head because they are playing right in front of you when there is an entire house to play in. Its LIFE, right?? So photographs are life…and when they are giggling in the grass, and the others are playing in the grass, I’m not going to stop a shot for the 2 in the back to move… its life..happening right there for us all to see now, 10 years from now and when they are full grown with their own kids.
check out this place…
You will get lost.. however find amazing ideas for whatever it is you are looking to decorate! I’ve picked up some great things for my new studio just by browsing some links she has listed!!
SPEAKING OF STUDIO!!!! I thought I was going to make it for an opening in June - Umm..didnt make it. JULY! July 27th I’m going to have a little meet and greet. So MARK YOUR CALENDAR!!! More info to come.
I get at least 3-5 emails or calls a month asking me if I do weddings… I always say no. I don’t know why - too much pressure I think? But last year, I was coming down off the rush of 2nd shooting this one with my friend DEB who was here from California to shoot a wedding - and well - Abby approached me to do their e-session and then asked me about doing their wedding…the rest, well, as you can see…has made history…hehe.
In all honesty, besides the nervousness of missing special moments, fear of losing cards, your cameras dying, having a complete meltdown, passing out due to it being 100 degrees - you get to completely witness such love and joy and commitment in a way that no one else in the congregation no one else in the crowd does - through a lens. It is completely captivating to try and “capture” certain glances certain moments certain looks - between them and I felt myself getting lost in the moments with them… and it was wonderful.
dad walking her down the aisle..

Yeah! I love High School Senior Season! It give me time to really let my hair down (oh wait, I have short hair) and try and come up with some unique and creative things for these fast paced kids! This girl, though - did all the thinking for me! An aspiring photographer herself, she had my locations scouted for me! SOoo cool - a great graffiti wall, a fantastic field - what more could I ask for!!

oh, and remember this? the BOOT picture?? MY FAVE pic of all time - well, we were digging through her closet before we took off to go out and I spotted those cool orange Chucks - i said GRAB THOSE!! Ever since I did the BOOT pic, I wanted to do this shot with a Senior and when I saw the orange chucks - I said todays the day!! and she was soo game - yeah!!
