head in the sky…

My head up in the stars and my feet planted firmly on the ground – John Popper

These past few weeks have been nothing but incredible. I’ve had 2 magazine shoots, 1 fashion shoot and have been playing host to some amazing photographers for the JINKY ART workshops!! Its been an incredible ride that I didnt want to get off from. About 30 photographers from all over the US came to visit the farm and the studio. Barb worked the magic that only JinkyArt has, and the results were something out of the world. She has a true gift and such a creative mind that i hope that by spending a few weeks with her some of that has worn off onto me;)A HUGEMONGEOUS thanks to all my wonderful clients who came out to be models. It makes me so incredibly proud to be a part of your lives. A bigger HUGEMONGEOUS thanks to my family for helping in every way possible to make their time here as enjoyable and memorable as possible. A very special thanks to my MOM, Merna and Lisa for always making anything I’m involved in the best ever. Your generosity touches my heart so deeply.
I hope to share more images from the workshop in the next weeks. But for now, one of the kids who became instant friends. Carter would wake up everyday and hope it was a workshop day so he could spend time with pretty Penny and sweet Talia. I hope, as with everyone who was here, the friendships made never fade.

my niece. indianapolis. engagement session. in love.

I keep writing things and deleting them because nothing seems to show how happy I am for this couple. She’s one of my amazing nieces who over the years I’ve been so proud of… In my mind I keep wanting to live through her and all her amazing talents and successes and adventures. She has guided me down raging rapids without missing a beat, and she had shown such strength that I can only dream of having…
And now she’s getting married to a wonderful wonderful man. How happier could I be?

Dr Seuss once wrote, “You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.”

dancing, swirling, swinging

How can you NOT have fun on a session when you get to dance in the fields, roll in the green grass, swirl and swing?? Oh and pet horses:)I think I had just as much fun with these kids as they did. Everyone should run and dance in a field… It really should be some sort of requirement for life:)

Circling back around

A few years back I had a client drive all the way from DC to have her maternity and newborn images done. I was honored that someone think so highly of my work, to drive – PREGNANT 3 hours to get to me and then turn around a month later, when the baby was born and do it again. Mom was inspired after her baby was born and turned to photography herself.
So when I got the call from this family and she told me that she was referred by Kaileen, my old client, now photographer – I thought that was pretty cool how things sometimes circle back around.

I’m glad she did. This family was nothing short of great to photograph. We spent a wonderful evening together– running, playing in the play house, jumping on the bed and riding in the wagon.

I welcome JULY!

With open arms!!
June has been such a month of ups and downs. Today, July 1, I’m welcoming you with open arms!!
The highs of having amazing work come my way and meeting new wonderful clients to be toppled by the exhaustion of hospitals and illnesses – its been one heck of a ride to say the least!

In one of the many magazines I’ve read sitting in a hospital room somewhere, i jotted down this..

Count the garden by the flowers, never by the leaves that fall. Count your life with smiles and not the tears that roll. ~Author Unknown

A little reminder that no matter what is thrown your way– flowers still bloom, birds sing, sun shines (and kids still want silly bands).
