back to school

Since everyone is heading back to school I thought I’d update my blog with some recent senior sessions. I love how much these kids and their moms get me. They love that I love barns and old cars and they dont look at me funny when I tell them to go stand in some weeds or sit by that old car. Can you even imagine doing that 10-15 years ago?? hahah!! Ok, they do look at me funny sometimes.. but then again - people do even when I’m not taking their pictures

taking lessons from children

In the last couple weeks, I’ve been trying to notice things maybe I hadn’t before. Enjoy what I’ve been calling a “Magic Moment” a day. Something that maybe I would have overlooked or taken for granted any other day of the year. For instance.. I saw a beautiful white horse in a field one day - normally not that big of deal and probably drove by that horse 100 times. But that one particular day, I noticed him and appreciated his beauty and called that my “magic moment” for the day. The other night I decided to go to an outside concert. I haven’t went to one in years -but went and in the crowd was a father dancing with his small child to the sound of the band… I found myself smiling as I watched him enjoying the evening with his family, dancing and singing…a beautiful magic moment.

As I was proofing this particular session I recalled as I shot the photo of this girl dancing and running through the field. I remember saying or at least thinking how wonderful it must be to be so carefree to just run through a field like that… and spin in the grass with your face to the sun. I’m just wondering how many more lessons we should take from children…

I believe every boy should have a dog( every girl too) A true companion. I was so excited when Nicholas’s mom called to get his pics done again - then she mentioned bringing his new pup along..yeah!!. 2 adorable subjects?? Are you kidding me!! Man, I was in heaven… Me and my camera were never so happy

6:55am as I’m trying to crawl out of bed after a late night of proofing, slideshow making and coffee table book creating. My 4 year old come bursting into my room yelling that theres a caterpillar in the house by the back door! I mumble ok..I’ll be up in a sec… mom mom he yells - and he pooped on the floor! really? my interest is peaked..do caterpillars poop? Everyone poops - the book even says. so I get up - go see. Yep, theres a caterpillar alright. Right beside some mud that fell off someone shoe. Have a good day!

in the whole world. Seriously. First off the mom is like truly, my #1 fan and #1 blog stalker/poster/ feel good person of all time. She always ALWAYS ALWAYS makes the most sweetest comments and seriously knows just how to make me feel good. I cant gush enough about how lucky I’ve been to be in these kids lives since they’ve both been born…. People sometimes dont realize what an honor it is for ME to be taking the pictures - they say to me “we are so lucky we have you taking our pictures” etc.. but really.. the feelings for me always goes both ways.

(ugh, my columns are messed up -thus the delay in me posting last week. I tried to do ONE SIMPLE thing and have it messed up - and now have to call in a professional to clean up my html nightmare :D. hehe.) oh well.
